THE ILLUMINATED FIGHTBOOK

About us

Extraordinary Editions Ltd was founded in order to publish limited edition rare books employing leading craftsmen and artists and using only the finest materials in the traditional manner. We have a history of producing specialist facsimile first editions of military manuscripts. These include:

SAS WAR DIARY 1941-1945

The SAS War Diary 1941 - 1945 is one of the most astonishing manuscripts to have come out of the war. Created by one officer who realised that as the Regiment had been disbanded its wartime story was disappearing. He saved every document, photograph, memo, order, map and report that he could and created an icon.

Extraordinary Editions have now published the Diary as a full sized leather bound facsimile in association with the SAS Regimental Association in order to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Regiment and to bring to light the courage of their wartime comrades.

The lion's share of the profits from the project goes towards the welfare work of the Regimental Association.

THE KINGS SURVEY OF THE CHANNEL ISLANDS 1680

The King's Survey was a fortifications report produced for Charles the Second who feared that the French had designs on the Channel Islands. It is an immense work over 20 inches high and 14 wide and contains 40 stunning fold out maps and panoramas of the islands, the largest of which is 51 inches long. No ordinary fortifications report, it is a hymn of praise to the islands by the young gunner and artist Thomas Phillips, who was trying to impress the King. He not only succeeded in impressing His Majesty but also in producing the most beautiful book about the Channel Islands ever created

Assembled from the three known sources and published in a first edition in full facsimile complete with all the fold out images on a specially made paper in two weights, 175 gsm for the pages and 200 gsm for the fold outs. The book is bound in a quarter leather and finished with hand made marbled cover papers designed especially for this edition.

A small number of copies remain available
